Although my desire to support others goes back decades as an advocate for LGBTQIA2S+, women's rights, and body positivity, my professional career started about seven years ago. At that time, I began teaching children with autism important skills and concepts while working with Autism Centers of Michigan. There, I learned the importance of making learning fun and adaptable while also sticking to what works. After that, I supported adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as an intern at the Bergmann Center in Charlevoix where I witnessed the undeniable benefit that community can have on an individual's sense of self and well-being. Finally, I found myself interning at, and then being hired at North Country Community Mental Health where I was gifted extensive training as well as opportunities to put that training into practice. My time there allowed me to hone my clinical skills, helping me view someone with a holistic eye by including their symptoms, social landscape, physical health, personal identities, and internal commentary as equally valid.
I think growing up in a Northern Michigan forest helped me access a stillness and a love for our world and people. From the wind making the aspen leaves twinkle to the babbling stream singing for its diverse guests, there always seemed to be some new magic to explore. I think we as people reflect this internally, as well.
And I try to carry that with me - the sense that all of us are have a world that's holding new wonders to explore. With this in mind, I've become a very curious person. That curiosity carries right over into therapy as I value gentle exploration where we can make little adventures into your own landscape to find the safety and wonder that's waiting for you there.
My approach to therapy is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for the complexity of being human. I believe healing happens in the presence of safety and connection, where all parts of you can be seen and heard—without judgment. Together, we’ll slow down, listen inward, and make space for the insights and shifts that can emerge when you feel truly supported.
